STRAND 2

The Auditioning Performer

(IDSP WORKSHOP)

The Auditioning Performer strand is aimed at students aged 16+ who are intending to move into full-time professional performing arts training.

The training provided through the IDSP Workshop is specifically designed to equip students with the performance skills and personal confidence that will give them the edge when applying to drama schools. Our Funky Faculty are all professionals in their own right, with a wealth of experience in supporting students into drama school training.

Working alongside and post A Level/BTEC training, we aim to focus intensively on students’ performance skills to get them ready for the next step in their performing career, that all-important drama school audition! Focus is not just on the audition itself but also on offering guidance and support to make sure that the schools our students choose are right for them!

The programme is broad, covering all aspects of performance and aims to give students the solid background that drama schools look for when offering places. Many drama schools believe that their students need a little more life experience and awareness of themselves as a performer before their training begins. The Auditioning Performer programme is designed to support this transition, tailored carefully to each individual whilst giving real emphasis on the ‘triple-threat’ performer; working to develop versatility and providing students with a solid foundation for a wide variety of professional training programmes.

Previously our graduates’ progression has been incredibly diverse, including to musical theatre courses, acting courses, actor-musician courses, acting for screen and digital media course and applied theatre and directing courses.

1:1 tuition in singing, piano, guitar, music theory and acting is also available to our ‘Auditioning Performer’ students. These classes are by private arrangement, available both in person and online
